Since 2001, Star Expert Oy has provided professional plumbing, ventilation, cooling, and specialized contracting services. Their project portfolio includes commercial, office, and educational buildings, industrial facilities, as well as both new construction and renovation projects. The company operates mainly in the Helsinki metropolitan area and South Savo but delivers projects across Finland when needed.
Star Expert’s annual revenue is approximately €12 million, and the company employs 38 professionals. Star Expert is part of the Finnish SE Group, whose consolidated revenue exceeds €29 million with over one hundred employees. SE Group’s companies are owned and managed by private individuals who actively participate in operational business.

Modern tools are an essential part of that,” explains Star Expert’s CEO, Juha-Pekka Mäki, when discussing the decision to adopt Pro3.
Star Expert uses the core Pro3 project management platform, complemented with electronic forms and a customized tender management module that simplifies documentation handling.
“A unified way of working saves everyone’s time. Information is always where it should be, and time is not wasted searching for it. Efficiency improves when fewer things rely on memory and when the process flow is consistent,” Mäki summarizes.
Tailored tender management speeds up project start-ups
Building services contracting is fast-paced, with a high volume of incoming requests for quotations. To support their workflow, Star Expert wanted a tailored tender management feature integrated into Pro3. Incoming RFQs are stored, and key information is captured to support decision-making. After the tender decision, the project automatically moves into the estimation phase, and the information entered during tender handling is transferred to the project.
The tender management module also retains all received RFQs, enabling follow-up and providing valuable data for analysing market demand, among other uses.
Pro3 also collects additional information from projects—such as site details, contract types, documentation, meeting minutes, and reports—that can be leveraged in summaries and analyses.
Smooth implementation with a committed project team

The implementation included preparation, technical installation, content workshops, content creation, piloting, and key-user training. Star Expert’s project team, estimation, production, and procurement departments participated actively, bringing their expertise into the implementation project—after all, the purpose of adopting Pro3 is to streamline their work.
During the content workshops, Star Expert’s core processes—estimation, project execution, and warranty-phase actions—were modelled into Pro3 along with all related content. Tailored profiles were created for ventilation, heating and plumbing, electrical, and building automation projects, each containing project-type-specific guidelines and ready-to-use document and task templates.
Based on insights from the pilot phase, final adjustments were made, and after training, the system was introduced into daily project work. Star Expert continues to develop their content based on user feedback and business needs, utilizing Pro3’s administrative tools.
